The scouts’ advent calendar is produced and sold responsibly

The scouts’ advent calendar has the Key flag as proof of its Finnish origin. There is finnish know-how behind all the illustrations. The calendars are printed in Hämeenlinna by Papermark Oy and its materials are mostly made in Finland.

The calendar is printed on FSC-certified cardboard. The certificate guarantees that the cardboard we use comes from well-managed forests that produce ecological, social and economic benefits.

Advent calendars are packed in plastic so that they remain in good condition even in difficult sales conditions. The PP film used as packaging can be recycled in plastic collection. If recycling is not available, the film can also be burned together with other combustible materials (e.g. wood).

The sale of the Advent calendar is the scouts’ most significant annual fund-raising campaign, the entire income of which goes to support scouting. As much as 74% of the sales revenue goes to local and regional activities.

Calendar sales are tax-free fundraising for non-profit associations (AVL § 4), and are therefore not an activity subject to a fundraising permit.

In addition to the online store, calendars are sold at events, door-to-door and in shopping centers. Calendar sales near stores have been agreed nationwide with the K-ryhmä, Lidl Suomi and Citycon. In addition to the national permit, scout groups always agree on the sales at the local level as well.
